When we talk about deaths in Supernatural, let’s make something clear- these do happen pretty much in every episode. Well..the entire premise of the show is what happens after it, doesn’t it? The brothers come to know about a death, and they follow it up with their every own investigation. There have been so many deaths on the show, that its quite hard to pick out the ones that had affected both Sam and Dean emotionally, and also tending to the most emotional aspect of Supernatural at the same time. It all becomes a what-if instance in a situation where Mary still lives, and how it would have impacted the lives of the brothers. Leaving that aside for now, the impactful deaths were mostly characters that were closely related to the brothers’ tale. And also, since both Sam and Dean have had their fair share of deaths, they have been included in the list too. So, here is the top listing of the 13 most saddest deaths of the show, that would leave you tearing up.
13. Mary Winchester – Death shown in “Pilot”
The audience never got quite the chance to meet Mary, but the eventual flashbacks over the course of the show, has definitely shown how much she as a character has impacted the lives of the brothers, and how her death was ultimately more tragic than it may seem, for it had affected Dean greatly, and changed Sam’s course of life. Thus, her death can be accounted as one of the most tragic deaths of the show the viewer has ever seen.
12. Jessica Moore – “Pilot” Season 1, episode 1
Over the past seasons, it is heavily hinted that Sam has not quite been able to move on from Jessica’s death. After all, it is made even more heart-wrenching when her death is portrayed to be the same as his mother. The way it becomes more personal, attributes to the fact that he was mired in guilt all this time, as he felt responsible for her death. This was one of the instances where Sam’s guilt was made far more grave than ever, as shown to the audience.
11. Dean Winchester – “Do You Believe In Miracles” Season 9, episode 23
Although Dean has had his fair share of deaths and eventual resurrections, as is seen in ‘Mystery Spot’ and his relative deaths in just one episode; this one in fact is starkly different from what we were used to, as Sam was completely shattered and just didn’t know how to move on after his brother’s death. He had lost his own identity in the process. Well, for starters… ‘Deanmon’ became quite a fundamental aspect of the show following that, and we consider ourselves lucky for it didn’t last long.
