17) The Show Was Almost Scrapped Basis The Pilot
HBO totally rejected the pilot that was shot for the show initially starring Tamzin Merchant and Jennifer Ehle as Daenerys Targaryen and Catelyn Stark respectively. They were then replaced by Emilia Clarke as Daenerys and Michelle Fairley as Catelyn for the new pilot that they reshot and only then HBO gave it a go ahead to be aired.
16) Benioff And Weiss Got The Show After Their Accurate Guess!
George R.R Martin was skeptical about the HBO version of the show. His concerns were put to rest after Benioff and Weiss accurately guessed the name of Jon Snow’s mother during their meeting with Martin. Martin did not acknowledge whether their answer was right or wrong but gave a thumbs up to them.
