Well, there are times when actors refuse to accept certain roles offered to them. There is a vast plethora of reasons, ranging from below-the-line payment to stupid script and lack of personalized M&Ms. The Harry Potter Series is no exception. In spite of the absence of the actors who were meant to be a part of the movie, it has broken new horizons of success and fanfare. So, it is time to widen the wings of imaginations and find out how the Harry Potter movies would look like if the franchise could retain the desired actors. After all, the actors who declined to play the roles in the movie have no regrets…
1. Hugh Grant cast as Gilderoy Lockhart
Imagine Hugh Grant playing the role of Gilderoy Lockhart instead of Kenneth Branagh. He could have done anything to the role of five-time Witch Weekly’s Most Charming Smile Award winner. He is perfectly customized for the role, just think of his features. Well, it was the scheduling conflicts that led to different story altogether. His initial acceptance of the role led to nowhere and eventually he had to quit the role.
2. Kate Winslet cast as Helena Ravenclaw
The reason why Kate Winslet’s turned down the role was that it was a tiny one, with just a couple of scenes. You may recall that the ghostly appearance of Helena chipped in the movie with just momentary role, revealing the location of the diadem of Harry’s mother to him. It was one of the last Horcruxes. Well, Kate could really create a more profound impact!
